Wigan Rugby Union Club Mini & Junior Section win top National Rugby Award

Hundreds of clubs entered in a bid to be part of the largest rugby awards in the world! The Crabbie's National Rugby Awards.

We are proud to announce that Wigan Rugby Union Club mini and junior section has won a National Rugby Award!! In the category of ‘Youth & Mini Section of the Year’.

Murrelektronik’s name, logo and Managing Director Peter Rogers are a very familiar sight around Wigan Rugby Union Club. For a number of years, Murrelektronik has been the main sponsor of the Mini and Junior section. Providing vital resources including club kits for all junior age groups, coaching equipment, supporting fundraising activities, helping on club DIY days and much more over the years.

Speaking of the nomination for a National Rugby Award and the partnership between the junior section and Murrelektronik, Junior Chairman Ian Morgan said “We are delighted to have won the prestigious award for ‘Youth & Mini Section of the Year’. This is fantastic recognition of the progress the club has made in developing a home for Rugby Union in this League dominated town. We are also very proud to also have achieved so much on the pitch in such a short amount of time. We could not have done it without the sponsorship of Murrelektronik and of course the many hundreds of hours put in by our army of volunteer coaches.”

Managing Director Peter Rogers stated “The contribution and support a global electronics manufacturer, like ourselves can make to local grass roots sport is something we are very proud of. Seeing kids progress with their rugby and, most importantly, enjoying sport is a delight for a corporate sponsor, such as ourselves. We are delighted that the club has won this award - Wigan’s mini and junior section is a fantastic asset to the local community and they thoroughly deserve this accolade.”
